Oksana Chernyuk was born in Odessa, Ukraine. She graduated from the Odessa Ballet School and the Odessa Institute of Art. She toured with the "Black Sea" professional folk dance company all over North Africa, Europe, Ukraine, and Russia. Oksana was a featured dancer and was in demand by many dance companies.

  In 1995 Oksana was invited to perform in Houston, Texas. Since   then she has performed at the Hobby Center, the Jones Hall, Houston International Festival, TBH Theater, the Reneissance Festival, the Museum of Fine Arts, and many other art venues. Recently, Oksana was featured as Carmen Miranda at the major production for the 2004 Super Ball which was held at the Astrodome in Houston.

  Oksana performs and teaches such styles of dance as ballroom, waltz, rhumba, cha-cha, salsa, tango, fokstrot, country-western, ballet, flamenco, irish, egyptian, russian, gypsy, ukrainian, jazz, modern, and tap. Her performances are truly electrifying. Besides choreographing all the dances Oksana also makes all the costumes.    In 2003-2006 Oksana taught at the Kinkaid School. In 2007 she opened her own Sunrise Dance Stidio. In 2008 she received a teaching position at the Village School.

In April 2009 Oksana moved her Sunrise Dance School  to the new location: 1570 S.Dairy Ashford  Suite 121. Sunrise Dance School offers group classes as well as private lessons in the following:
